Maegen Hughes, Program Coordinator

Education and empowerment are the threads running through Maegen's career. Maegen is an advocate for the power of community connections to improve educational outcomes. She believes the work of Homework Hotline, to connect students and caregivers to qualified teachers, helps students not only complete assignments and master concepts, but also build confidence and alter trajectories.

After graduating from Middle Tennessee State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English, Maegen taught English as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Bulgaria. After several years in ESL teaching and administration, Maegen completed a Master of Education degree from Peabody College at Vanderbilt University. Since then, she has worked in nonprofit administration.

Maegen with her husband and two young kids love living and playing in East Nashville. Maegen enjoys volunteering at their kids' school, working in the yard with the dog, and learning to sew.
